SCRAPDIGAN

Join us for the knit-along in my Ravelry group!

Designed for using up yarn odds and ends, Scrapdigan offers so many options for customisation! Stay in one color story or go wild with color combinations, use textured and handspun yarns or add sequins, put mini skeins to work or hold multiple different yarns together - the possibilities are endless. If there’s enough for one stripe, there’s enough!

The cardigan is knit seamless from the top down with round yoke shaping. The abundance of texture is balanced with the comfortable straight lines of the body and sleeves. The hem and sleeve cuffs are completed in folded stockinette, which pairs nicely with the double knit buttonband. Choose between three lengths provided - cropped, full, long - or keep knitting until it fits just right. Want to add buttons? The pattern has a detailed guide for them, too.

The textures of the sweater include some favorites like seed, moss, and garter stitch, and also explore welts, Estonian and Latvian braids, miniature built-in nupps, and slipped stitches. Video tutorials for the trickier techniques are provided, as well as the coloring sheet for planning your project, which can be downloaded for free below.

YARN

Worsted / Aran / Medium weight or any yarn that can be worked at the specified gauge (including held double, triple, etc). Sample cardigan used more than 20 different yarns from lace to chunky. Ideas for using different yarn weights:

  • DK weight yarn can be worked slightly looser than usual or held together with a strand of lace weight;

  • Sport weight yarn can be held double;

  • Fingering weight yarn can be held double or triple;

  • Fluffy yarns like Suri and mohair can be held in several strands or along with another yarn to thicken it up;

  • Chunky weight can be worked at a tighter than usual gauge (recommended to use only in stockinette stripes).
