RUBIA SHAWL

This shawl was created as a celebration of the original colorway from Pro-Verbial Club by A Verb For Keeping Warm - Smitten. Its beautiful hue is brought to life by using several natural dyes including madder root. And so the inspiration for this design was drawn from rubia, which is another name of madder. Berries and leaves, flowers and roots were interpreted in knit textures, coming together in a delicious project of the best “just one more row” kind.

Rubia features a modified boomerang shape reminiscent of a rounded triangle, which is easy to style and wear.
The pattern combines garter stitch, eyelets, nupps, and simple lace into a delightfully entertaining knit. It’s easy to increase or decrease the wingspan of a shawl depending on the desired finished size or available yardage. Lace pattern is both written out row-by-row and charted, and a video tutorial for nupps is provided.
