RIVER FLOW SHAWL
A comfortable and cozy River Flow Shawl was born with the thoughts of what we’re wishing to knit and wear during colder months. Fluffy mohair and soft merino yarns combine in the piece that would be a nice companion both for the walks outside and snuggling at home.
The textures of this design were inspired by the mesmerizing movement of water in river currents. The patterned panel running along one side of the piece is composed of traveling stitches, cables, and Japanese wrapped stitches, all flowing gently into each other and creating the effect of movement similar to the one seen on running rivers. The body of the shawl is worked in the broken twisted rib, resembling the play of light on the surface of constantly flowing water.
The shawl is worked from the bottom corner up, allowing the knitter to stop whenever they desire (or run out of yarn!). It features a modified construction with elongated wings, providing more styling options than a classic triangle. Perfect for mindful knitting sessions, this design requires knitter’s engagement in most rows.
YARN
1200yds / 1100m of Tosh Merino Light from Madelinetosh (100% merino wool; 4oz / 113g, 420yds / 384m), 3 skeins, color Lagoon Deep
1200yds / 1100m of Silk Cloud from Shibui Knits (60% kid mohair, 40% silk; 0,88oz / 25g, 330yds / 302m), 4 skeins, color Lagoon Light
Colors that are not too dark, don't differ too much from each other and are not too variegated would work best to not distract from the stitch pattern
