This is an elongated variant of Seed Stitch. It is also obtained by alternating knit and purl stitches, but each row pattern is used for two consecutive rows.

Knits made with the Moss Stitch have interesting texture, they are reversible and don’t curl on the edges. This stitch is often used for afghans, scarves and sweaters.
