FILOLI COWL

Filoli Cowl is an easy-to-wear accessory that offers the comfort of a cozy triangular shawl without the need to style it. It is named after my favorite historic house and garden in the SF Bay Area.

The cowl features two types of mosaic patterns and garter stitch. Looking more complex than it is, all colorwork requires working with just one color per row and the whole cowl is almost completely worked with knit and slipped stitches — very little purling, yay!

The piece is knit flat from the back neck towards the wide front section and shaped with increases. The edges are polished with built-in i-cord that is continued in the two-color i-cord bind off, video tutorial provided. Colors are carried along the edge and hidden in the i-cord edging, so there's no yarn cutting and just a couple of ends to weave in in the end! Mosaic stitch patterns are both charted and written out.
